Holiday Message from Will2Win

To loyal readers of Will2Win,

Needless to say, this has been a trying year, and yet I am grateful that you have allowed me into your private readership space.

I don’t expect everyone will agree with my assumptions or the premise of my missives at all times, nevertheless I try to bring you facts and figures that help connect the dots and/or help explain in a statistical fashion what has occurred on the field. And perhaps my statistical centric analysis will help provide insight regarding what is likely to happen in the future as well.

At any measure, I hope I give insight and opinions that you don’t get from conventional Beat Writers.

In closing, I wish you and your families the best of good health, hope and happiness during the Holidays and throughout the New Year.

Let us hope and pray for good health, peace and understanding, and a better tomorrow.

Best always,

Dayne Thomas

  1. Dayne,
I appreciate your comments and insight (Mike Young recommended your blog). I also grew up in Pontiac, played football for Pontiac Central and was recruited by MSU to play football. My years at MSU (1965-1970) were generally enjoyable and at State I met my wife. I never started for State but I did get a decent education and am still teaching. Anyway, I really appreciate your comments regarding how players are not developed but are disposed of if things don’t work out. Maybe I’m naive, but if you invest the time and energy to recruit a player, take the time to re-recruit that player. Work with him, repurpose him and redirect as necessary but don’t let him just walk away, discarding him and wasting your investment because he didn’t fit your “expectations/passions/ideals.” These are young men with so much potential and they need encouragement and patience as they develop into the mature men they will become.
